CHINACOM Presents a Diverse Program and 9 Best Paper Awards
CHINACOM 2010, the 5th edition of ICST’s International Conference on Communications and Networking in China, took place on 25-27 August in Beijing with the participation of over 200 international attendees, media partners and cooperating societies such as IEEE VTS, IEEE MTT-S, and IEEE CVTC.
The conference featured four workshops, two tutorials, three keynote speakers, four special sessions and eight symposia. Nine papers were selected for the prestigious Best Paper Award by the Technical Program Committee; their presenters received the plaques from Keynote Speaker Weihua Zhuang (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada) at the Gala Dinner.
The 1st International ICST Workshop on Advances in Data and Information Management (ADIM 2010), the 4th International ICST Workshop on Broadband MIMO Channel Measurement and Modeling (IWonCMM 2010), the 2nd International ICST Workshop on Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNet 2010), and the 1st International ICST Workshop on the Internet of Things: Opportunities and Challenges (IWIoT 2010) were collocated at Beihang University with the pre-conference tutorial on Cognitive Radio Networks (instructed by Kwang-Cheng Chen of National Taiwan University) and the tutorial entitled SWAN: An Open Wireless Testbed for IMT-Advanced Technologies (instructed by Yang Yang from the Shanghai Research Center for Wireless Communications, Chinese Academy of Sciences).
The conference
commenced with opening addresses delivered by General Chair Jinpeng Huai (Beihang University), and Technical Program Co-Chairs Hsiao-Hwa Chen (National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan) and Jun Zhang (Beihang University) followed by two keynote addresses. Weihua Zhuang shared his research results on Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks; subsequently Hequan Wu discussed Broadband Network Development Opportunities and Challenges in China. Fumiyuki Adachi presented his keynote address on the Challenges for Gigabit Wireless during the Gala Dinner of CHINACOM 2010.
Special sessions ranged in topic from Coordinated Multiple-point Transmission for IMT-Advanced Systems and TDD Related Issues for IMT-Advanced Systems to Ad-Hoc Sensor and Mesh Networking, Cooperative Networking and Multi-Domain Cooperative Wideband Communications.
The symposia focused on a plethora of subjects such as Advances in Internet; Frontiers on Communications and Networking; Information and Coding Theory; Multimedia Communications; Networking and Information Security; Optical Communications and Networking; Signal Processing for Communications; and Wireless Communication Networks.
The Wireless Communication Networks Symposium also featured a panel discussion on New Technologies for Wireless Communications and Networks.
Next year’s edition of CHINACOM, the 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM 2011), will take place in Harbin, China on 17-19 August 2011.
