ICST Student Technology Forums (STFs) Application 

STFs are a branch of ICST community organized for and managed by students, recent graduates and junior researchers. Each STF anchors ICST members in an important technical area providing information, coordination and collaboration means for its members. These means may include common information portal hosting, a set of tools such as community news, career information, announcements of the upcoming conferences and a platform for sharing novel ideas and technical information. STFs provide the support in conference/workshop organization for its members as well as sponsoring scholarships and travel grants.

Each STF is coordinated by its officers appointed to their positions by the Vice Chair(s) or through the AGORA process. Officer positions are opened according to council coordination requirements and unique activities carried by the councils.

The organization of each STF and its activities is devoted to the servicing and coordinating ICST student members in a specific technical area. To this aim, STFs maintain a homepage hosting a set of tools facilitating collaboration, organization, and information exchange between its members while maintaining connection to revolutionary publication platforms introduced by ICST. Applications are encouraged from a variety of disciplines, such as but not limited to, computer science, mathematics, physics, economics, statistics, medicine, law and education, all connected by an ICT theme.

Application Requirements

All applicants should be willing to become the Chair of the proposed ICST Students Technology Forum. The responsibilities of an STF chair include:

  • Providing leadership and a long-term planning of main strategic activities;
  • Being responsible for recruiting and managing volunteer officers coordinating STFs activities in a specific area (publications, events, industry relations);
  • Working with the volunteer officers to develop technical focus and the framework for implementation of the planned activities;
  • Contributing to the interaction of the proposed STF with the rest of the scientific community.

Evaluation criteria will include relevant experience and research record of the applicant as well as importance of the proposed topic. Applicants must show willingness and ability to lead communities composed of a large number of junior researchers. Preference will be given to young researchers, students, and recent graduates.
