Innovative Bio Device Presented at Pervasive Health 2010

 

The 4th International ICST Conference on Pervasive Computing Technologies for Healthcare (Pervasive Health 2010) took place at the Technical University of Munich on 22-25 March.

With more than a 120 participants attending, the conference was an ideal forum to discuss the development and application of human-centered pervasive and ubiquitous computing technologies for healthcare and wellness.

The conference addressed  a variety of pressures on healthcare systems including the increased incidence of life-style related and chronic diseases, emerging consumerism in healthcare, the need for empowering patients and relatives for self-care and the management of their health, and the need to provide seamless access for healthcare services, independent of time and place.

Mobile Computing in Focus at MOBICASE 2009

Keynote speaker Anil Kripalani (President of WirefreeCom, Inc. and former Senior Vice President of Qualcomm, Inc.) gave an excellent opening speech on new opportunities in home wireless communication and applications. The technical sessions of the first day covered healthcare applications and system software.

Nobel Prize Winner Robert Aumann Presents Game-theory Analysis at GameNets 2009

Dr. Robert John Aumann

Professor Dr. Robert John Aumann – recipient of the 2005 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics – made a keynote address at the 1st International ICST Conference on Game Theory for Networks held in Istanbul, Turkey on 13-15 May 2009. Dr. Aumann – a member of the United States National Academy of Sciences – received the Nobel Prize for his work on conflict and cooperation through game-theory analysis. He is also a recipient of the John von Neumann Theory Prize, the Harvey Prize in Science and Technology and the Israel Prize for Economical Research.

Distinguished keynote speaker Dr. David Harel – Professor, Department of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, The Weizmann Institute of Science, William Sussman Professorial Chair – shared the most recent findings of his core research on the applicability of computer science and software engineering techniques to life sciences at SIMUTools 2009. Dr. Harel gave an insight into the idea of comprehensive and realistic modeling of biological systems, with the ultimate vision of producing an interactive, dynamic, computerized model of a multi-cellular organism.
