Partnership for Excellence Program Overview

ICST is an open society of professionals interested in ICT science, technology or business and its applications in emerging disciplines of the 21st century. ICST is dedicated to pursue policies that: (1) allow no membership fee participation; (2) encourage a proactive, prosumer-based approach to contribution by rewarding society activities; (3) make its constituents partners in the proceeds in direct proportion to the value of their contribution to the society; (4) provide participation incentive which inherently lead to promoting innovation, prestige and excellence, and (5) use global web communities to recognize excellence by community, not by committee.

The society's approach targets the promotion of excellence by lowering the barriers to participation for scientists worldwide, independently of their economic status. It also encourages innovation and the acceleration of science processes through the provision of web 2.0 dissemination tools combined with a rigorous peer-to-peer methodical evaluation system which further promotes the value of scientific information. These principles are fundamental to the promotion of innovation, scientific development and professional growth. Through all its activities, ICST strives to promote the global benefit of ICT technologies in all walks of life by increasing the innovation power and promoting the role of the European ICT community in the global village.

ICST brings together ICT experts from scientific organizations, universities, research centers, non-profit organizations, corporate entities, governmental organizations and regulatory institutions. ICST's mission is to stimulate cooperation within the European ICT community and to provide a bidirectional channel for the exchange of scientific ideas and innovation opportunities between Europe and the rest of the world for a global benefit. ICST seeks to fulfill these missions by combining the nascent worldwide communities with its Membership Program consisting of two elements; the Membership Levels and a Science Rewards Program.

The Membership Levels define the level of contribution as judged by the community instead of a committee, serving as the basis for awarding recognition, society benefits and other advantages. The Science Rewards Program is designed to inherently promote excellence, encourage participation and the sharing of scientific information, by rewarding participants according to their talents and the value of their contribution to the society at large, while accelerating the exchange of scientific information without compromising quality and prestige. All Reward Points, Participation as well as Royalty Points, count towards the promotion of a Society Member and greater levels of Science Rewards. Therefore, in addition to the prestige and community recognition earned, members' participation in any activity is, a welcome contribution to the Society, acts directly on the multiplier of Members Royalty points, and carries direct financial benefits from any activity accessed, reflecting on and directly rewarding the significance and impact of the member's work.

The Science Rewards Program thus serves to (A) make members true partners in their society enterprise; (B reward quality, as judged and recognized solely and objectively by the community of members; (C) support talent by providing members around the world with an opportunity to gain free access to society activities and dissemination and participation forms as a result of the significance of their contribution to the evolution of ICT and its impact on human society.
