SAT – Optical Networks

The mission of Optical Networks (ON) SAT is to organize technical and business activities in the area of optical networks, including conferences, symposiums, and workshops, manage related journal and magazine publications, facilitate the international exchange of information on the technical, operational, management, and application aspects of optical networks, stimulate worldwide technology and business development in the area of optical networks, and provide a forum for researchers and professionals in the area of optical networks from both academia and industry.

Jun Zheng

Jun Zheng - Committee Chair

Southeast University Jun Zheng is a Full Professor with the School of Information Science and Engineering of the Southeast University (SEU), China. He received his Ph. D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Hong Kong, China. Before joining SEU, he was with the School of Information Technology and Engineering of the University of Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Zheng serves as an Associate Technical Editor of IEEE Communications Magazine, an Associate Editor of IEEE/OSA Journal of Optical Communications and Networking, an Editor of IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, and an editorial board member of several other refereed journals. He has guest-edited eight special issues for different refereed journals and magazines, including IEEE JSAC and IEEE Network, all as Lead Guest Editor. He has served as General Chair of AccessNets’07 and AdHocNets’09, and TPC or Symposium Co-Chair of several international conferences and symposia, including ICC’09 and GLOBECOM’10 Optical Networks and Systems Symposiums. He has also served on the TPCs of a number of international conferences and symposia. Dr. Zheng’s research interests include the design and analysis of network architectures and protocols for efficient and reliable communications, and their applications to different types of communication networks, covering optical networks, wireless networks, and IP networks. His current research interests focus on broadband access networks, and wireless ad hoc and sensor networks. He has co-authored (first author) the book Optical WDM Networks: Concepts and Design Principles (Wiley-IEEE Press) and has published a number of technical papers in refereed journals and magazines, and peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
