UCMedia Participants Share their Impressions on YouTube

 

The 2nd International ICST Conference on User Centric Media (UCMedia 2010), collocated with the 4th InterMedia Open Forum, attracted media professionals and researchers to Palma de Mallorca on 1-3 September. Participants not only exchanged their views and generated new ideas during the event, but also posted them on the video-sharing platform, YouTube. Discussions at UCMedia 2010 contributed to the understanding of the changing media landscape, with particular emphasis on user-centered media and their delivery over a Future Media Internet. UCMedia 2010 proved to be a forum with an interdisciplinary approach, supporting inventive and creative practices in the arts, sciences, engineering and business. Presentations focused on media trends related to the overwhelming volumes of content and user-generated content, changing distribution mechanisms and changing representations of media.

Keynote presenter Dr. Leonardo Chiariglione examined the concept of the “user” in user-centered media, while Dr. Theodore Zahariadis analyzed future media Internet architectures in his keynote address.

The Best Paper Award honored  Gokce Nur, Safak Dogan (featured on the illustration), Hemantha Kodikara Arachchi and Ahmet M. Kondoz for their paper “Assessing the Effects of Ambient Illumination Change in Usage Environment on 3D Video Perception for User Centric Media Access and Consumption”.
